About
The story behind
My name is Steen and I am the happy owner of The Tea Road
My story with tea goes many years back. I have always been drinking tea, never coffee, but for the first half of my life it was mainly teabags from Pickwick, Lipton and other brands
In early 2012 I moved to Hong Kong to live and work. Soon my good colleagues introduced me to Chinese tea and I slowly started to learn.
Over the following years I traveled a lot in China and it happened quite often that I received boxes of Chinese tea as a gift.
During a trip to Japan I fell in love with the Japanese tea - and the culture, history and people.
Since then I have visited Japan many times - often several weeks or months at the time and always with visits to tea houses or tea farms planned
Years later I joined Global Japanese Tea Association and today I am a Tea Catalyst for Global Japanese Tea Association and teach their Foundation and Intermediate courses.
Recent years also Chinese and Taiwanese tea have been explored - through courses, tea tours and travel to remote tea areas.
