Japan Kurihara Mountain Grown Yame Kabusecha 100 gram

Very nice 2026 first flush spring harvest Kabusecha from Kurihara Tea farm in Yame.  

This is one of our favorites with a slightly sweet and rich grassy, spinach flavor and a delicious umami.   Almost no bitterness or astringency.  A very good tea.

Kabusecha is shaded for 10-14 days before harvest, allowing the tea leaves to mature without getting the slight bitterness that the unshaded Sencha teas can have.  

Kurihara Tea Farm

Since we opened our online teahouse we have offered a selection of high quality teas from Kurihara Tea Farm.  It is a family owned tea farm in Yame, Fukuoka Prefecture in the southern part of Japan.  The tea fields are located in 300-700 meters height and cover 3 hectares.  The farm is managed by the Kurihara brothers Akio & Yuji and their Gyokuro teas are often in the top 5 in regional and national tea competions.
