Japan Tea Road Premium Sencha Blend 50 Gram

We are happy to introduce Tea Road's own Premium Sencha blend, made of the best first flush spring 2026 leaves. 

And it is a nice tea !    The moment you open the bag a refreshing grassy aroma reach your nose and the long dark green needle-shaped leaves is a pleassure to look at.  You know that this is a good tea.   It has a nice richness with slightly grassy umami-rich flavor highlighting what Sencha can be when when being high-quality.

Having tasted more than 100 Sencha teas over time it is clear that Sencha is a bit of a jungle.   Unlike the shaded Gyokuro and Kabusecha teas that are most often delicious, the Sencha teas spand from the crispy, rich and sligtly sweet teas with good umami notes, to the bitter and astringent teas that you try to forget.

We therefore engaged with a Japanese wholeseller and asked for a blend of premium first flush spring leaves.  The result is this delicate, rich and complex flavor with strong umami notes.  

Because the flavor is quite rich we suggest that you brew it at only 65-70 degrees for 60 seconds and raise the temperature a bit at the later brews.  This way you can make 3 brews with full taste and reduce the amount of water for a 4th brew.

Since this is an experiment we have decided to sell the Tea Road Premium Sencha Blend in 50 gram bags to allow more people to try it at reasonable price.
